Can anyone take Generic Propecia? Generic Propecia was designed to treat hair loss on the vertex (top of the head) and the mid-scalp area in men only. There is not yet sufficient evidence to show that Generic Propecia can be used to treat hair loss at the temples.
As with any medicine you should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking Generic Propecia to ensure that it is suitable for you and will not interact with any medications you may already be taking. In addition you should always read the instructions provided and monitor your reactions to the drug.
Note: Generic Propecia has the same active ingredient as brand name Propecia. If you have been prescribed hair loss medication in the past and your health has not changed, you do not need to ask your doctor for another prescription!
You should inform your doctor or pharmacist if you currently suffer or have suffered from any kidney, liver or urinary tract illnesses.
Generic Propecia is approved for adult men only and should not be taken by women or children. The active ingredient in Generic Propecia can be absorbed through the skin if the film on the pill is broken or the pill itself is crushed, therefore pregnant women or women planning to get pregnant should not handle this medicine.
Drugs containing the active ingredient Finasteride can affect the results of blood tests measuring PSA levels (i.e., prostate cancer tests). If you're planning on taking a blood test you should inform your doctor or the laboratory staff at your clinic that you are taking Generic Propecia.
